Student Wellness Policy

Bristol Borough School District recognizes that student wellness and proper nutrition are related to students' physical well-being, growth, development and readiness to learn. The Board is committed to providing a school environment that promotes student wellness, proper nutrition, nutrition education and promotion, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning experience. In a healthy school environment, students will learn about and participate in positive dietary and lifestyle practices that can improve student achievement and overall health status.

Our District Wellness Committee has identified the following goals/focus areas for the next three years (2024-2025 through 2026-2027 school years):

  • Train all staff on Policy 246 as well as provide a list of nonfood ideas to staff and families.
  • Take steps to create/schedule additional physical activity during the day/week for students so that they are moving/physically active more each week.
  • Take steps to share more nutrition education information with families via building/district newsletters, e-mails, PTA communications.

Any parents, students and teachers/staff who are interested in participating in upcoming District Wellness Committee / Advisory Board meetings are encouraged to express their interest to Jennifer White, Food Services Manager at jwhite@bbsd.org  and/or 215 781-1000 Extn 2503.

Wellness Policy Assessment Tool and Report

Federal regulations require local education agencies (LEAs) participating in the National School Lunch Program to complete an assessment of their local school wellness policy at least once every three years and make the results available to the public. This triennial assessment must measure the implementation of the local school wellness policy and include:

      • The extent to which schools under the jurisdiction of the LEA are in compliance with the local school wellness policy.
      • The extent to which the LEA’s local school wellness policy compares to model local school wellness policies.
      • A description of the progress made in attaining the goals of the local school wellness policy.
